Samantha’s Live Trading Room Summary - 1/30/25
AI euphoria is still in the house. I wrote my detailed thoughts on what to look for later when everyone is looking for the same door: THIS IS THE MANHATTEN PROJECT 2.0
All eyes on AAPL tonight and QRA Monday with China reopening on the 5th, then NFP next Friday. Never boring!!
IMPORTANT: WEDNESDAY’S MACRO-TO-MICRO OPTIONS POWER HOUR HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO TODAY AT THE CLOSE!
Let’s review some of my recent themes:
GOLD! Great trade so far:
GLD: Technical breakout I anticipated a month ago (Jan 6th), plus weekly gap up is still very bullish.
SLV: Technical breakout I added last week based on how silver lags gold. AEM + AGI as my preferred miners are pushing nicely higher.
Chinese New Year: According to The World Gold Council, there is a correlation between the Lunar New Year and higher gold prices. Makes sense!
Macro: Falling dollar and yields is bullish precious metals, but specifically I made a bet Jan 14th that rising US bonds and yen would pull gold higher with it.
Tariffs: Expected Trump tariffs causing London to move/deliver gold & rumors there’s too little of it. This has put a bid on spot as well.
DBA: I mentioned last month that rising food prices/soft commodities would pull SLV higher with it. See Eggs, Cocoa, Beef and now Lettuce!
CHINA! Great trade so far:
BABA was discussed last week before all the Deepseek market drama which revealed BABA had a DeepSeek equivalent that may even perform better.
China Tech is now on radar for many US investors given the disruption China just made with a better, faster, cheaper product in DeepSeek.
The market is closed in China until Feb 4th, so take care chasing into that event.
The China Wall - my monthly chart of resistance I showcased yday - will likely show a nice move above next week. Now, price action has to see follow-through/not break back below.
The danger is to US tech stocks should money rotate STRONGLY into China tech & ROW.
IGV & IPO: Strong sector rotation so far:
