Lucky or Good, I timed a yen bounce, pulling US bonds (and gold) higher with it - as it pushed US dollar and yields lower, putting a bid in equities that helped shorts cover. That was Tues. It’s Thurs and still working.
This past Saturday, Jan 11th, I did a post to clients with my "week review/week ahead" thoughts. In it was a teaser header: "Time to Talk BOJ Rate Hike". I then penned/scheduled a detailed piece for Jan 18th: "Time To Focus On The Yen". It’s the macro to the micro I smelled Tuesday: a bounce in yen, bonds, gold, equities.
And lucky or good: I offered up a trade in TLT that is 4200% + still going. It just so happens ;-))) … that yesterday was the 2nd biggest call volume ever for $TLT.
USDJPY is threatening a bigger breakdown IF 154.8 does not hold. It's probably a coincidence, but exactly as Biden announced this 11th hour suggested Congressional stock trading ban, the yen spiked higher. LOL
US 10Y Yield got rejected exactly at my 4.79% PT and has fallen exactly back into its 21D exactly when Scott Besssent, Trump-nominated Treasury Secretary had his Congressional hearing. He did not discuss QRA funding/composition which is what matters most to market liquidity. He oppossed minimum wage increases and supported Republican tax cuts.
